Government Polytechnic for Women Dhenkanal was established in 1986 Provides Technical Education to women in and around Dhenkanal Odisha. This affiliated college, recognized by the AICTE, India, provides number of diploma courses in various disciplines of engineering. Based in a 10.42 acres campus the institute has a total intake capacity of 546 students and is run by 15 full time dedicated faculties. And, it is the policy of this Government Polytechnic, Dhenkanal to ensure standard technical education to steer the students in the arena of their successful engineering career.

The Government Polytechnic for Women is proud of being able to provide a number of services to support students as they learn. Currently, the colleges possesses a collection of about ten thousand books on different topics and a set of journals, magazines, as well as periodicals. Students are free to use Internet connected computers in the reading room to hone their research and online study. Institute laboratories have been stocked with equipment and resources to feed into the practical requirements of engineering students to provide them training in their areas of specialty. Government Polytechnic, Dhenkanal provides total five full time Diploma engineering courses where each course take 3years to complete. They are Diploma in Civil Engineering Mechanical Engineering Electrical Engineering Computer Science and Engineering Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering. In total, there are 240 seats in these programmes that institute is seeking to produce highly skilled technicians and engineers whose supply is expected to meet the market demand of the country. The intake capacity for each course differs, Civil and Mechanical engineering intake is 60 students, for Electrical engineering also 60 students, Computer science engineering has 40 students for Electronics and telecommunication 20 students.
