Government Polytechnic, Jashpur was established in 2010 It is affiliated college located in Jhargaon Village, Jashpur district, Chhattisgarh. This was also a technical institution, affiliated to the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) that provides Diploma in Engineering streams. The polytechnic is located on an extensive 11.57 acre land and at present has 128 students admitted and 12 faculty members. It offers three full time diploma courses of three years duration to prepare engineers in Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics & Telecommunications and Mechanical streams. 

Government Polytechnic has acquired infrastructure that can help in improving the learning process of the students. At the centre of these facilities is the Central Library which consist of more than six thousand books on sciences, human and social sciences and engineering. The library also possesses e-journals concerning the various branches, literary books, newspapers and current affairs magazines. SC/ST category students get a book bank facility, while students and faculty have access to dedicated reading rooms. The institute understands the importance of modern education as is reflected in the properly equipped Computer Lab that has projectors and internet facilities where computer science students benefit most. Furthermore, it is equipped with the various departmental laboratory that meets the technical education importance of practical experience. To enhance a balanced development model sports grounds are offered for students to partake in, sporting activities both during and after school. 

The offering of Government Polytechnic based in Jashpur are limited to a set of three diploma programmes and all of them are being offered with a full-time study mode only. Such are Diploma in Computer Science Engineering, Diploma in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering, and Diploma in Mechanical Engineering. Each of the above programmes has an intake of 30 students that have been approved, therefore the total number of seats for all the courses are ninety. This limited intake makes it possible for individual student attention and quality education for all those learners joining the institution.

Government Polytechnic, Jashpur lays down simple criteria for admission so that all the intending students can get through it easily. Possibility of course offered and or standard attained in basic qualification examinations may be used as admission requirements are not explained in detail, it is well known that most polytechnic institutes accept students through entrance examination results or amounts acquired in qualification examinations. Prospective students are advised to regularly check the institute's portal . While details about scholarships are lacking, students of SC/ST origin, for instance, can take advantage of other necessities such as the book bank that can greatly cut costs when purchasing books.
