Government Polytechnic, Kandukur was established in the year 2009, located at SPSR Nellore District of Andhra Pradesh as a separate institution. This institution which is affiliated to the university and approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) provides offers diploma courses in engineering disciplines. Located in a six-acre campus the polytechnic at present has a total enrolment capacity of 71 students and faculty of 14 only.

Facilities available in the institute are specially meant to provide the best environment to succeed to the students. A library is a treasure trove of knowledge and one that is reasonably equipped is a centre for learning. Teaching practiced in most departments come with practical section, important tools for technical learning in the laboratories set for respective departments. The campus includes an auditorium for holding events such as seminars within academic environment. It has cafeteria to provide diet foods for the staffs and students as well as a health centre inclusive of first aid boxes for the basic health needs. The college also focuses on physical health regarding the provision of sports amenities for users within the college. Further, the institute has built up good IT facilities so that today students can face the digital world. 

Government Polytechnic, Kandukur currently provides two courses that take full time three years each to complete. The institute offers a Diploma in Civil Engineering, a Diploma in Electrical and Electronics Engineering. Most programs have an approval to take in 60 students, therefore the aggregate number of available study places is 120. These are the type of courses where students are trained with the right knowledge and practical skills required for them in order to enhance their carrier in the engineering industry. 

To get admission into Government Polytechnic, Kandukur, Andhra Pradesh students need to qualify the Andhra Pradesh Polytechnic Common Entrance Test (AP POLYCET) which serves the criteria for admission. The case of this standardised exam provides a competitive environment and better qualifications to the aspiring students.
