The Government Polytechnic, Murtizapur was established in 2009 with a vision for social transformation and upliftment of rural masses through quality Technical education. The Government Polytechnic, Murtizapur is affiliated with the Maharashtra State Board of Technical Education (MSBTE), Mumbai and is recognised by The All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE).

The Government Polytechnic, Murtizapur offers Diploma programmes in five streams which are Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering. Being a government-owned college, it is the most affordable Polytechnic college in the Akola district. The admissions in the diploma courses offered are done through the common entrance test conducted by the Maharashtra State Board of Technical Education (MSBTE) and are followed by the counselling process.

The teaching quality is great and well organised. There is a dedicated placement cell at Government Polytechnic, Murtizapur, which regularly conducts workshops and seminars to nurture the students and make them job-ready.
