Government polytechnic was started in the year 1960 and is situated in Venkateswarapuram, Affiliated to Andhra Pradesh, Nellore. The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) approved college affiliated to IUAC offers quality education in the faculties of engineering. Located in a massive plot of 21 acres land, this institute provide follwoing strength of student and faculty: total student intake is 1,050 and total faculty 28. Government Polytechnic, Nellore at this moment has research degree diploma in two fields of engineering each of which is distinct from the other.

Government Polytechnic, Nellore has been providing two full time diploma courses in engineering, each for a period of three academic years.
