Government Polytechnic, Osmanabad was established in 1985. The college is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and is affiliated with the Maharashtra State Board of Technical Education (MSBTE).The institute was established with a vision to provide quality technical education and has established itself as one of the best polytechnic colleges in Maharashtra. 

The institute offers 7 Diploma programmes in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automobile Engineering and Textile Engineering. The duration of these diploma courses is 3 years. All  the admissions at Government Polytechnic, Osmanabad are carried out through a centralised admission process.
