Affiliated college for Engineering is the Government Polytechnic, Surpur, which was set up in the year 2009 at Yadgir district of Karnataka. This Technical institution affiliated to AICTE offers diploma in different discipline of Engineering. Located on a spacious area of 5 acres, the polytechnic offers good technical education to young engineers. The capacity of the institute is 10 faculty members and 132 students allowing for close attention to each learner. Government Polytechnic, Surpur is currently offering five diploma courses which are all full- time programmes to cover a broad area of engineering interests.

Currently the institute has facilities that can enhance student’s academic and personal development. In this regard, the college has a good IT support system that enables them arm themselves with adequate knowledge in technology. Faculty departments include workshops, which are very important in the practical teaching learning context in engineering courses. A better equipped library should be beneficial to students as well as members of the faculty. For a more comprehensive development they include sporting facilities so as to increase on physical fitness as well as teamwork. There is a cafeteria on the territory of such campus to satisfy the appetite of students and other personnel.

There are five diploma courses offered at Government Polytechnic, Surpur and all of them are on campus programs. These courses : Diploma in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering, Diploma in Computer Science and Engineering, Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Diploma in Civil Engineering covers a broad spectrum of engineering disciplines enable students to select from a number of disciplines. The total approved intake for the institute is 210 for all courses so in every branch the facilities provided to learn engineering are evident enough. Both programs typical take three years for completion and upon its completion student gains profound knowledge and skills in the chosen area of specialization.

This college follows the norms for admission to the Polytechnic and admission process in Government Polytechnic, Surpur is completely based on merit.
