- Sports
The college has Sports is the principle of competing against oneself, it is about self-improvement, about being better than what we were the day before. Sports is like ballet dancing. It requires a lot of control, strength, mind play, and measured movements, it is a great way to de-stress and chill out after a hard day's work. Physical recreation through games and sports has always been an important part of the Institute since its inception. Games like Football, Cricket, Badminton, Volleyball, Throw ball, Basketball, Netball, Chess, Table Tennis, Kho-kho, Kabbadi, Athletics, Handball, carom, Lawn tennis, and Yoga are played in regular practice with great enthusiasm and sportsman spirit. Annual Sports Meet (Inter-branch Tournaments) is organized every year for the promotion of Sports activities in students, interaction amongst various departments and to pick up sporting talents for the institute teams. The department also organized various Sports tournaments for Teaching & non-teaching Staff to build a harmonious atmosphere

- Alumni Associations
The Government Polytechnic Surpur Dist: Yadagiri established the Alumni Association under the government society act as GPTSAA (Government Polytechnic Surpur Alumni Association) in the year 2015. The body has GPTS staff members along with more than 1,000 Alumni members. Along with the Alumni coordinator from each department working together to build the relationship between Industry and Academia.
- Training and Placement Cell
The Government Polytechnic Surpur offers training and placement to students and also Presenting skills, Mock Interviews, Workshops, Seminars, and Group discussions are conducted for the benefit of students. Further, the polytechnic's placement cell arranges campus interviews. The College has Signed MOUs with many Industrial Organizations to assist the development of diploma students with technical and interpersonal Skills.
