Government Polytechnic, Takhatpur, was established in 1998. It is an affiliated college at Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh. This Technical Institution has been approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and conducts programmes in engineering disciplines. The institute has an enrolment of 106 students and a faculty strength of 10.

The Government Polytechnic offers all kinds of facilities to enrich the learning process for its students. The Central Library is located at the heart of the campus, referring to an information hub supporting teaching and learning with an attractive collection of reference books, handbooks, and various texts from other streams for students, faculty, and staff. The college also has well-equipped department-based laboratories where trainees may undergo proper hands-on experience needed for technical education. It also has a computer laboratory to support IT education and a canteen that caters to daily needs. 

Government Polytechnic, Takhatpur offers three full-time diploma courses each of three-year duration with 40 seats in Diploma in Mechanical Engineering and Diploma in Electronics and Communication Engineering respectively, which sums up to a sanctioned intake of 80 students per year. The above programmes would be made to equip the student with both theoretical knowledge as well as practical skills required by a working professional.
