Government Post Graduate College, New Tehri, was established in the year 2003. It is one of the leading colleges in Garhwal, Uttarakhand, which is affiliated and imparts undergraduate and postgraduate courses to the students. The college is spread over 1.3 acres with a student enrolment of 748 students and a faculty strength of 42 members. The institute offers 43 courses in six degree programmes that are spread over a wide range of interests in the academics. 

The library comes among the most treasured possessions that include a well-stocked library with books on all courses offered. The state government sanctions an annual grant for continuous development of the library. Under different schemes, students can get books and other printed materials from different libraries for certain specified periods. GPGC New Tehri also has well-equipped departmental laboratories to ensure practical laboratory work experience for science students. The IT infrastructure in the college supports modern-day educational requirements. The auditorium serves as a hub of events, seminars, etc. For the sports enthusiasts, the institute has facilities for games like football, boxing, volleyball, cricket, handball, badminton, and table tennis.

The admission process to the GPGC New Tehri courses, at the undergraduate level, is basically done through CUET UG. It is a national-level test conducted yearly, which occupies an important position in admitting students to the different courses the concerned college offers.
