Government Women Polytechnic College, Udaipur was established in year 1986 and it is a first women polytechnic college of Rajasthan that imparted technical education to the women. This affiliated college is in Pratapnagar, Udaipur, Rajasthan and is approved under All India Council for Technical Education AICTE. The institute is located over a vast expanse of 3.5 acre, where the budding female technicians and designers can freely come of age. It remains, at present, with a strength of 83 Total Students and faculty strength of 13 which further makes the college to have good student teacher ratio for necessary individual attention and facilitation. There are three academic diploma programmes in the institution and these offer skills or hands-on experience together with relevant knowledge in a certain area of the specified field.

The college has a number of provisions for the all-round development of a child, academically as well as otherwise. A well equipped girls hostel has been provided with capable of housing 52 students comprising 16 individual rooms equipped with sophisticated facilities such as a kitchen, dining hall and other other comprehensive general areas. Currently all campuses are IT equipped with computers with Internet connection and necessary software for practical work. 

In total there are 25 such computers. An email and web browsing computer centre, and information technology support are available to students through a central computer section. The college library is the source of information in a college; sports facilities and a gym are designed to ensure student fitness. Departments may choose to have their own laboratories so they can focus on the practical aspects of a course. Refreshments are offered in a cafeteria and an alumni of the institution remains engaged in the lives of their clients through a highly active alumni association.

Government Women Polytechnic College, Udaipur comprises of three three-years full time diploma courses only. The courses are Diploma in Textile Design, Interior Decoration, Beauty Culture. The overall capacity of the students for all courses is 120 and for each program the capacity is 40 student. These specialised courses are aimed to satisfy all current needs of the industry and offer student effective tools for their future practice.
