Great Eastern Medical School and Hospital, Srikakulam, a famous premier medical college in Andhra Pradesh. The college offers a variety of medical programs and follows the rigorous admission procedure based on national-level entrance examinations. GEMS is recognized by the National Medical Commission and the Indian Nursing Council, which ensure the standard of medical education. Admission cycles for GEMS usually commence from May-June in the year of the varsity intake, which falls in August to September. Admission to the undergraduate medical programs such as MBBS shall depend on the results of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG) in that particular year. 

The other entrance examination, which will be for MD and MS postgraduate courses, will also be through the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Postgraduates (NEET-PG). In order to get admitted, candidates must have completed a basic education of 10+2 from a recognized board having Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as compulsory subjects for MBBS as basic eligibility criteria. Candidates must also qualify in the NEET-UG before being granted admission. From the standpoint of MD/MS, candidates are to complete their MBBS degree from a recognized university as designated by the authority and qualify in NEET-PG.

  1. Application: February 7, 2025 to March 7, 2025
  2. Exam date: To be announced (Usually in May)
  3. Declaration of Results: Usually in June

NEET-PG 2025 Important Dates: Dates of counseling for stray round (reporting and joining): February 20, 2025 to February 28, 2025

Application Process

The application process for GEMS varies according to the program:

For MBBS:

For MD/MS programs:

Degree wise Admission Process

MD/MS: There are different postgraduate programs offered by GEMS with different intake capacity for them:

  3. MD Anesthesiology: 10
  4. MD Radiodiagnosis: 10
  5. MS Obstetrics and Gynaecology: 9
  6. MS Orthopaedics: 8
  7. MD Paediatrics: 6
  8. Other MD/MS specializations: 2-4 seats each

Admission into all MD/MS is through NEET-PG. Candidates must complete their MBBS degree and qualifiy in NEET-PG to be eligible.

B.Sc Nursing and B.Sc Medical Laboratory Technology admit students into these two undergraduate programs. Although no specific details about admission are available, these courses often require 10+2 in science and may adopt a separate admission process. 

BPT (Bachelor I Physiotherapy): The program is offered with no advertisement for specific admission to describe details. BPT admission generally entails 10+2 with science, which may involve a separate examination or a merit list.
