GS College of Commerce and Economics, Jabalpur: Admission, Courses, Fees, Placements

GS College of Commerce and Economics of Jabalpur was set up in 1948 and is an autonomous organisation in the province of Madhya Pradesh. Affiliated with the Rani Durgavati Vishwavidyalaya, Jabalpur, this AAC accredited integrated college offers 10 course in seven degree programmes. The institution occupies 2.721 acres total area; enrolled total students offer 2,578 and male and female students 1,759 and 2,165 respectively. This college is famous for its commerce and economics stream for which it has hired a team of 33 members faculty. This NCTE recognised institution offers specialised courses in Commerce, Computer Applications, Education and Management streams.

GS College of Commerce and Economics ha made provisions for numerous facilities to improve the learning atmosphere of the college for its students. The library of knowledge holds 52014 course books and reference volumes, 30 research journals, 24800 e-journals, 35 magazines and 17 daily newspapers. These facilitates are available to students in special study and reading rooms to provide them with physical access to them. As for recreational facilities, there is a volley ball ground, basketball ground, badminton court, kabaddi ground and table tennis hall. Fully equipped information technology system is present in the college with two computer labs; Yashwant Shankar Dharmadikari Laboratory NO 1 & NO 2 furnished with latest software & technologies. Other facilities are a hygienic canteen, a hall to conduct meetings/seminars, a Bank of Maharashtra, guest rooms, departmental laboratories, an adequate parking space, a health centre, and Internet facility all over the campus.

To improve the different students interest, courses provided by GS College of Commerce and Economics include a variety. It offers 10 coursesof study which include both undergraduate and post graduate levels. These include full time courses in commerce, computer applications, education and management. The new generation courses offered by college are B.Com (Honours), B.Com with Taxation & Computer Application as majors, BBA, BCA, B.Ed M.Com, MA (Human Resource Administration), MA (Economics). The special focus, however, has been placed on the B.Ed programme, an institute that has an intake capacity of 100 students. The total intake of the college is 2578 which shows enough admission capacity in all the programmes.

GS College of Commerce and Economics does not require any entrance examination and interviews but for admission, one has to get pass the cut off on marks obtained in relevant qualifying examinations. Even for the B.Ed programme, candidates might be required to write an entrance examination or any other test on the basis of certain norms framed by respective state government and university. Admissions to several courses are accepted in the college and its academic year is generally in contrast to the academic year in India.
