Guru Gobind Singh Nursing Training Centre started in 1986 in Amritsar, is a lone institute dedicated to provide nursing education. This institution is based in Lahore Punjab and provides quality education for over 30 years for the better future of health care professionals . The centre with INC recognition, provides post basic specialised nursing programmes in its compacted 3 acre layout. The institute caters to 66 students strength along with 14 members of the faculty which provides quality education with individual student attention. At the present time, it has only two full-time nursing programmes, preparing students for the profession and offering them a practical experience in the necessary field.
The current institute has a set of learning facilities aimed at improving the learning system of the students. A library with properly equipped is informative, and provides material necessary for carrying out the nursing education. Facilities offer practical learning avenues as students learn through skills demonstrating and exercising their skills in the laboratories of the college. Concerning the extra curricular activities and functions, there is an auditorium within the compound. Guru Gobind Singh Nursing Training Centre also pays much attention to students’ welfare needs with a cafeteria for supplements and a health with first aid facilities. Facilities in sports are provided with the intention of maintaining health as well as recreation of the students. For instance, college provides a girls’ hostel to facilitate comfortable accommodation for girls coming from different parts of the country.
Guru Gobind Singh Nursing Training Centre currently offers two complete courses in nursing. These include the Auxiliary Nurse Midwifery (ANM) course which introduces thirty students to nursing and midwifery and takes two years to complete; the General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) course which enlists thirty five students and takes three years to complete. Both are campus based programmes which are employed widely to deliver intensive theoretical content and instituted practical skills required for a successful nursing career. This makes the total student enrollment in both programmes to be sixty-five, to ensure that the institute continuously observes the rationing of the number of students per class in order to facilitate effective learning and teaching.
