Started in year 1996, Guru Nanak Dev Dental College and Research Institute Sunam is one of the premier College of Dental surgery in the state of Punjab, India. This affiliated college sponsored by the Dental Council of India (DCI) has a number of programmes in dental science located on its extensive 17 acre land. The total intake for the students at the institute is 305 and there is strength of faculty members 96 conducive for dental education. The college teaches 8 courses in total at two levels of degree, focused on dentistry in general, and specific fields such as Orthodontics, Periodontics, or Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

The BDS is the key programme offered at the institution and is a 5-year full course programme that takes one hundred students. In the postgraduate level of training the college offers several courses in Master of Dental Surgery (MDS) each taking 3 academic years. These specialise course include; Master of Dental Surgery in Periodontics, Prosthodontics, Orthodontics, Oral/Maxillofacial Surgery, Paedodontics etc. The proposed intake for all courses is 305 reflecting on the institutes ability to develop the nxt generation of dental professionals each year.
