Sundernagar based Himachal Dental College, recognised in 1994 is a premier and well known dental college in Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh. This affiliated college that has received the stamp of approval from the Dental Council of India (DCI) has been visionary in setting the dental health course for over two decades. Located on a 5-acre mulching space, the college provides an appropriate learning ambience to those intending to practice dentistry. The college is well populated that consist of 362 students with teaching faculty of 78 making the college to have the proportionate student-faculty ratio that promotes high quality delivery of college education.

Sundernagar based Himachal Dental College currently possesses many sophisticated facilities essential for the achievement of its academic goals. It as a place of scholastic collection of science and research documents for use by the undergraduates, postgraduates, and staff. Department specific laboratory facilities, fully equipped, offer practical experience which is important in dentistry training. The college has also provided seats of our comfort for hostellers based on their gender with a different section for boys and girls separately. For total personality development, sports amenities are provided also, to ensure that students exercise and do not become workaholics. The auditorium plays a part of the numerous activities including event and seminars to promote the campus related life. The Himachal Dental College presents a fuller picture of educational opportunity with high level dental courses for undergraduate and postgraduate levels. There is 6 courses offered by the college, which are Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS), Master of Dental Surgery (MDS). All courses are fully-time and aimed at forming professional masters in different spheres of dentistry possessing profound knowledge and skills in practice. The BDS course has a total of sixty Seats for intake while there is total twenty seven Seats in total for MDS courses offered in different specialisations. The college had in the academic year 2022 a total student enrolment of 362, of which to the under graduate programmes were 285 while to the postgraduate programmes were 77.

The admission criteria in Himachal Dental College are centralise and merit based and there is no affiliation or distance involved in the admission criteria. In case of BDS programme the admission is based on the competition normalised merit list through National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG) which act as entrance examination for this field. There is no other entrance examination that is recognised for admission into the BDS course. For postgraduate programmes the college accepts NEET MDS score. Interestingly, MDS programmes in Himachal Dental College are open to students from any of the Indian state or union territory provided the student passes NEET-MDS examination.

It is—for probably the first time—the college is proving that it is serious about diversification in the student population. Across the undergraduate programme, 77% of learners are from the state while the rest, 23%, are from other states. Post graduate programmes reveal even more diverse population, 47 percent are in-state students while 53 percent are out of state students. With regards to gender distribution, at times, the number of females dominates, for example, 76% of undergraduate students and 64% of postgraduate students. Himachal Dental College, Sunder Nagar, is a world-class dental college situated in Sunder Nagar, Mandi district, of Himachal Pradesh. Both undergraduate and postgraduate dental programs are offered by the college through a merit-based and centralized admission procedure. Accredited by the Dental Council of India (DCI), the college adopts a high level of dental education standards and uses a competitive student selection procedure to accept students.

The admission process of Himachal Dental College tends to coincide with the national dental admission schedule. Admissions to the Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) are made according to NEET-UG scores. The NEET-UG examination generally takes place in May, and the results are published in June. Counseling sessions and seat allotments take place in July and August.

Eligibility requirements for admission to BDS comprise successful 10+2 course completion with mandatory subjects of Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. Candidates should also pass the NEET-UG test. Degree wise Admission Process

BDS: Himachal Dental College has 60 seats for Bachelor of Dental Surgery. The college admits students through NEET-UG marks only, and that too followed by a centralized counseling. The course is for 5 years along with a mandatory one-year rotating internship.

MDS: Himachal Dental College provides MDS courses in different specializations with 29 seats in various departments. All MDS courses use NEET-MDS scores for admission. The college provides the following MDS specializations:
