HM Arts and Science College, Muvattupuzha was started in the year 2002 at Muvattupuzha, a picturesque town of Kerala and is an affiliated college. Seated on 6.11 acres of land, this institution’s primary aim has been to train the young generation for the last two decades. The college is committed to providing students with undergraduate as well as post graduate courses in different fields. The college currently has a student population of 38 and it is staffed by a committed faculty of 6 members at HM Arts and Science College. This explains why it offers 6 courses that cut across 5 degree programmes in areas of Commerce, Business Administration, Language and Education.

There are in total 6 courses offered at HM Arts and Science College and all the courses run full time. The undergraduate programmes are B.Com in Computer Application and finance and taxation, BA English and BBA. For those in search for post graduate studies, the college offers M.Com in Finance and a B.Ed programme. The overall accreditation capacity for the above courses is 232 students, the number of seats per each course ranging about 12 from 60. The diversity of this course making it possible for the students to make selection on programs of their choice based on their careers and specialization.

Over 80 percent of the universities offers undergraduate admissions based on the merit of the qualifying examination. However for the B.Ed programme the college uses a more elaborate system, as we are going to see. According to the formal guideline of admission process, the regulatory clause says, “Admission shall be made on merit on the basis of marks obtained in the qualifying examination and/or in the entrance examination or any other selection process as per the policy of the state government/U.T.
