Holy Cross Basic Training Institute came into existence in 1993 at Pathalgaon of district Chhattisgarh, and it is a single standing institute offers teacher education program. This women’s college was set up in 1966 and it has been on forward leaguing the future of education for more than five decades. The institute occupies a relatively small area of 1.5 acres and provide students with a balanced learning process. Being accredited by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) this institution provides quality education as expected within the country.

It is the honor of the institute to maintain its array of amenities for all-rounded campus students. There are athletic facilities for those who like sports activities; students who reading freaks they have the college library with adequate stocks to meet their research needs. The institute has also equipped the school with modern laboratories to enhance teaching and learning as well as preparing learning facilities for the teachers of the future. The provided first aid facilities in a health center cater for the needs of the students while an enhanced Informational Technology facilitates communication in the modern world to the learners. For those coming from other towns, the institute has added guest house and waiting room amenities for them. Girls students may opt to stay within the on-campus girls’ hostel that provides them with secure, comfortable accommodation that is suitable for achievement of their course objectives.

Holy Cross Basic Training Institute currently offers one full-time course: the Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed). This type of schooling enrolled baby boomers with teaching career in primary and upper primary education for two years. Based on an intake of 70 seats the institute ensures adequate interaction with each student, thereby promoting more of student-teacher interface. The total student enrollment also equals the intake capacity at 182, which shows the growth of the program and affirms the institute’s policy of not over crowning its classrooms.

Intake into Holy Cross Basic Training Institute is by merit as espoused by the ministry of education and as stipulated by the Chhattisgarh state government. The admission process often takes into account the scores in the qualifying test, an entrance test or other requirements which are declared by the authorities concerned in the state. Unfortunately, the institute does not award scholarships at the present time while keeping the costs themselves relatively low so everyone may obtain a quality education.
