IMPS Polytechnic College, Jalpaiguri, was established in the year 2015 with the intention of one of the preeminent technical institutions of West Bengal in India. The affiliated college is located near Raninagar BSF Camp in Jalpaiguri district and provides diploma courses in the engineering stream. Having 5 acres campus, IMPS Polytechnic College has been the main hub for technical education in the region. With a total student enrollment of 610 and a faculty strength of 18, the institute maintains a student-teacher ratio perfect for delivering quality education. IMPS Polytechnic College offers four diploma programs; all these fall within the single degree category but prepare different engineering specializations.

The institution has a spacious campus that provides an excellent atmosphere for learning. It has separate hostels for boys and girls, which accommodate 400 students and 120 students, respectively. These hostels are provided with modern facilities such as the uninterrupted power supply with the help of a 65 KVA generator, hygienic kitchens, safe drinking water, and commodious living conditions. Within the campus is located a well-stocked central library of 4000 square feet with more than 5000 volumes and 1000 titles. The facilities are given to the students to subscribe to a wide range of national and international journals, with e-journals for betterment in high-quality research and better learning.

IMPS Polytechnic College has offered four full-time diploma programs, which have a time span of three years. Among them are Diploma in Civil Engineering, Diploma in Computer Science and Engineering, Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, and Diploma in Electrical Engineering. All these courses are designed to equip the students with sound base in their specific field in an effort to offer successful engineering careers.

The entry procedure at IMPS Polytechnic College is mainly conducted through the Joint Entrance Examination for Polytechnics West Bengal. Entry in First Year: For direct entry in the first year of Diploma Courses, the candidates who have a valid rank in JEXPO and at least 35 percent marks in aggregate, excluding additional subjects in qualifying examination are eligible. Second Year entry to diploma courses in the college through VOCLET/Vocational Lateral Entry Test is conducted.
