The IIHT Kannur was established and registered in 1987 under the Societies Registration Act, 1860, named as Handloom Training Institute (HTI) and later upgraded to the Institute of Handloom and Textile Technology (IHTT). Now IHTT is affiliated with the Indian Institute of Handloom Technology, Kannur (IHTT-K) which is functioning under the direction of the State Govt. and Indian Institute of Handloom Technology (IIHTs. IIHT operations are run from Balaramapuram in southern Kerala.
Indian Institute of Handloom Technology Kannur offers a full-time diploma and undergraduate programme. IIHT Kannur Courses include a Diploma in Handloom and Textile Technology (DHTT), Clothing and Fashion Technology (CFT), Training in Value Addition Technique and Fashion Clothing (TVT & FC), Pattern Making and Garment Construction (PMGC), Computer Aided Fashion Designing (CAFD), and Computer Aided Textile Designing (CATD). Also, the Indian Institute of Handloom Technology Kannur courses include a Bachelor’s degree in Costume and Fashion Designing.
