It's an ancient college of British ear linkage with the University of cal. It's one of the first Business school not only in India but to the whole south east asia and it's has all necessary facilities available in the which has required for the B school
The academic are very good in this college all facilities have excellent background in business and industry which which provides us real time experience how to working feels like in the industry.....
One of the highlights factor in the college in there placement... This college has the highest placement record which is match with any IIMs with reputed company's comes for the placement And for the the department as well
Another highlights factor is the return of investment it has high placement with low academic fee's as compared to the IIMs... Therefore it's has of great choice for any MBA aspirants and the college offer a variety of course in MBA
The infrastructure of the college is from the British ear therefore it has very old infrastructure it's is one of the first college in India and in southe east asia other than that college is place in the heart of Kolkata
No
The college building is old but has almost all the necessary infrastructures like computer labs, central library, games room, gym. All the classes have either smart boards or projectors and air conditioned.
1st years students have to study papers across many specialisations like marketing, finance, HR, Production and operation, business analytics. One can chose specialisation only from 2nd year. All the faculties are very knowledgeable and the syllabus makes you industry ready.
As it is the first business school of Southeast Asia, it has a very good reputation across the industry. Placements are pretty good if you look ROI-wise. Average placement lies between 9-10 lakhs CTC.
According to return on investment, the college is very preferable because after investing 8 lakhs you can get a placement of 10lakhs.
Everyday classes starts from 10.30 am and wraps up by 5.45 pm. You will have 4 classes in a day with 15 mins break in between classes and a lunch break of 45 mins.
Every student will get a summer internship after the end of 2nd semester, which will be arranged by the placement cell of the college. And one student can chose only 1 specialisation no major minor specialisations are offered.
The infrastructure of the college is not so good. The college do have smart boards in some classes but they are not maintained properly and many professors donot know to use them properly. They do have few auditoriums but they are not that good.
The academic structure is very rigid. They teach us in the same old fashioned way like just teaching theories and all but they do not teach anything related to practical. They do not help us in understanding the process of solving case studies and other different things.
The placement cell is good. They provide opportunities for both internships and placements and also provide a decent package. The cell is very supportive to the students and they try their best to help the students getting placed
The college is having all the necessary infrastructure, with the inclusion of newer technology with each year. The library is very well furnished with more than enough study materials. Smart boards are used in classes, and living spaces are clean. Better arrangements can made for the washroom and surrounding of the campus.
The academics is extensive and quite well structured, but is very much focused on the theoretical aspects of the prevalent subjects. But in the current year, more and more case studies and presentation based approach to teaching are being adopted
As of the academic year of 2021-2023, the placements have been very well, with eminent companies coming in for recruitment. The highest went for around 14LPA CTC, with average being around 8-10 LPA CTC.
The ROI of the college is relatively a lot more than others since the 2 year fees is around 6.36L, as of year 2023-2025. This, paired with the above mentioned average salary offered, portrays a decent value for money
The curriculum is very much focused on the academics, so the chances to engage in plethora of activities are a bit limited. But the college has multiple committees who organize and host multiple formal and semi-formal events with students and alumnis alike. The location of the college is excellent, sitting in the heart of College Street, Kolkata, and surrounded by anything and everything a student might need.
The infrastructure of Indian Institute of Social Welfare and Business Management, kolkata has a great infrastructure facilities available in the city. The college has all the essential facilities available for the students to study. The college has a library and we'll maintained and hygienic classes.
As I have completed my Masters of Business Administration in Human Resource Manangemt from this college I can say that the college is quite good in terms of academic structure and the quality of teaching in this college is very much satisfactory. The curriculum is well designed and maintained regularly.
Our college Indian Institute of Social Welfare and Business Management has a strong placement cell which continuously works on placement of their students in good companies. The average package at our times was good as many Renowned companies used to come to our college campus for final placement offers.
Infrastructure is more or less good.. though I would say they lack in several aspects of a modern college and that needs to improve includings toilets, common rooms etc. Also the canteen need to improve.
Academics are not bad but I would say they are quite rigid in their approach.. it would be much better if they start to accept new kind of teaching models for interactive study. This would make the students ready for jobs and upcoming challenges.
Though percentage of students who were placed is high but people who got placed in good companies are quite low. The process was long lasting and hectic for us. I would appreciate the fact though that they still tried for us till the end.
The value for money considering the course is not that great. The tecaheing process was rigid. The marks system was old and most importantly the placement was not good enough to say that I got my money's worth.
Campus life was the best part of the college. Though I would say it was mostly for my friends and not for the college itself. But still, there were several events to participate, enjoy to the fullest and make memories. So I would say it was totally worth it.
I would say I had quite a good time in the college. I enjoyed the classes, the events and as a whole the overall experience of a fun life. Though there were several negatives to adjust, but I would say it was fulfilling to have.
The institute, which claims to be the nation's first business school, was founded by Jawaharlal Nehru. In order to meet the requirements of today's managers, the infrastructure has been minimally modernized while largely maintaining its rustic characteristics. Don't worry; the classes have air conditioning and projectors. The only thing holding this institution back is its infrastructure.
Academics are unquestionably one of this institution's strengths. The professors are approachable and knowledgeable about their subject matter. There is a lot to learn, particularly about management theories. In contrast to the majority of business schools, IISWBM is affiliated with the University of Calcutta and places a greater emphasis on theories. Additionally, as a courtesy to the University of Calcutta, the syllabus requires minor revisions to keep up with the constantly changing business
Quite respectable, I must say. However, we are unable to disclose the same because of restrictions imposed on us. Look, everyone anticipates receiving a substantial salary upon completion of the MBA. However, you can reasonably anticipate a respectable one.
The best thing about this college is that it offers the best value for money in the eastern region. The flagship MBA course has a ROI of almost 1, which is significantly higher than that of most colleges in Kolkata or the eastern region.
College Square West is the central location of IISWBM in Kolkata. The proximity of prestigious institutions like Presidency University and the University of Calcutta makes this an ideal location for intellectual convergence.
Indian Institute of Management and Social Welfare. Placements: One of India's best B-level MBA schools is IISWBM. In 2023, roughly 95% of students were placed. 19 LPA was the highest salary package available.
One of the oldest college in the country. Infrastructure and college building is a bit old fashioned but classrooms are sophisticated for good studies. There are projectors in the classrooms. Wifi is also present. College campus is clean.
Faculty consists of great researchers. Most of them have written number of papers. They guide students and also does career counselling. Here lots of courses are provided in the form of electives to make the students industry ready.
Placement is good. Compared to the fees that is charged for the course the package that is offered by placements is very decent. There are reputed companies like Dabur etc which comes for placements. Internships are also provided and PPO s are also offered.
state of the art infrastructure, more or less all facilities are available, but it should be regularly updated, library is the one of the best thing this college have, lot of collection is there but here also updated version of books are rarely available
This college is under calcutta university, so the institution has to follow the guidelines of CU, the subjects are updated but the methods of taking exams and patterns are age old method, these can be changed, otherwise academics wise its a good institution
placement is good enough as per latest scenario, above 90% students placed directly through campusing if not then through alumni they can be placed, most of the big companies are used to visit directly college for campus recruitment but for last few years they are calling for pool drive with some other inst. of kolkata
This is the best thing about this college, in terms of vale for money no one can stand in this eastern region, for flagship mba course ROI is almost 1, is is far better than most of the colleges in kolkata or eastern region
Claiming itself to be the first B-School in the country, the foundation stone of the institute was laid by Jawaharlal Nehru. The infrastructure has mostly retained its rustic features with subtle modernization to cater to the needs of modern day managers. Not to fret, the classes are ventilated with ACs & equipped with projectors. Infrastructure is something that is the only downer for this institution.
Academics is surely one of the fortes of this institute. The professors are well-versed with their subject matter and are very approachable. There is immense scope for learning especially the management theories. While most B-Schools prefer case study intensive techniques, IISWBM on the other hand is affiliated to University of Calcutta which puts more focus on theories. Also, courtesy to University of Calcutta, the syllabus needs minor updates to keep pace with the ever evolving business world.
Placements offered are decent with most of the jobs being offered for entry level management roles. The marketing students are comparatively offered diverse roles in various industries - FMCG, BFSI, ITES, Automobile, Retail, Pharmacy etc. In terms of brands, organizations like HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, HSBC, PwC are frequent recruiters.
IISWBM is all value for money. In fact the RoI is less than a year.
IISWBM is located at the center of Kolkata at College Square West. Eminent institutes like Presidency University, University of Calcutta are located at an arm's length which makes this an ideal place for confluence of intellect.
