ICCONS or Institute for Communicative and Cognitive Neurosciences is an affiliated college was set up in 1998 in Shoranur, Kerala. Located on a small plot of a mere 6 acres of land, ICCONS has established itself as an eminent institute of Speech and Language Pathology. As of now, the institute provides two professional studies and has 79 students. Such comprised membership of faculty strength that comprises of 28 dedicated professions establishes ICCONS with an desirable student-faculty ratio.

The facilities that are available at ICCONS include a variety of learning facilities for its students. The institute also provides a good library facility that would provide all the flows required for aspiring speech and language pathologists. Exemplary laboratories are conducted to offer practical sessions extremely important as it enhances the skills required for the practice. It also has an auditorium for educational occasions like seminars, academicians are also encouraged on the campus. In addition, the institute also has a provision of basic sports facilities including gym for the students to balance between their hectic classes and health.

With respect to academic programmes, ICCONS targets a sectoral academic education in speech and language pathology. The institute offers two full-time courses. There are a Bachelor of Audiology and Speech Language Pathology (BASLP) and a Master of Audiology and Speech Language Pathology (MASLP). The BASLP programme that will take four years of study has an approved student intake of 20 students per year. The MASLP courseis a two years postgraduate programme that is designed on a similar model to the bachelor’s degree. 

Admission into the various programmes of the ICCONS is competitive especially for the BASLP programme. The students qualifying for both merit and management quotas are selected by the LBS Center for Science and Technology (LBSCS&T) on the basis of the marks secured in the qualifying examination.
