The Institute of Dental Studies and Technologies, Modinagar, Uttar Pradesh, was established in 2001. Situated in a sprawling 27.392-acre campus, IDST has emerged as the first institute in dental studies, running undergraduate and postgraduate courses. It is affiliated with Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University, and the approval of the courses is from the Dental Council of India. The institute has also been accredited by the NAAC, which further epitomizes its seriousness towards imparting quality education.

The intake capacity for BDS is 100; the different specialisations included in MDS include Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics, Oral Pathology and Microbiology, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and some others, with seats varying in each department. Admission to IDST is merit-based, and an institutionalised uniform admission procedure is followed. For admission to the BDS programme, candidates have to qualify in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test conducted every year. In the case of MDS courses, the candidature is decided based on their performance in the NEET MDS examination.
