IOT, University of Kashmir, Zakura Campus, Srinagar, is an affiliated institution of the government which was started in the year 2014. Srinagar based, the institute lies in Jammu and Kashmir and has a complex of 37.5 acres of land. IOT Zakura delivers 11 courses in 2 degrees of Bachelor of Engineering and Bachelor of Technology majoring in engineering and technology. It has a total student enrolment capacity of seven hundred and seventy(780) students with a faculty of thirteen (13) members. Recognised by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), IOT Zakura is affiliated to the University of Kashmir, Srinagar, so students who study here will get quality education as well as recognised degrees.

IOT Zakura has availed various facilities in its current premises to ensure that students have enhanced learning environment. The Library was founded at the same time as the Institute in 2014 it provides a vast amount of academic and research resources for scholars students and faculty members. It also has state of the art IT facilities readied for the students owing to which the students get to work using latest technologies. Labs in the various departments are well equipped to promote student practical experiences and research facilities. Professional health care in charge of skilled health centre staff makes campus health secure for the occupants. The sports department which was set up in the same year as the students’ association similar to the Nigerian law school Instance, charges the students with making their vibrant sports personality. Moreover, the institute provides a hostel for the students of both genders and delivers comfortable living and studying situations.

IOT Zakura has diversified engineering programmes in undergraduate and postgraduate levels as well. Full time B.Tech course is offered in the institute with 4 years duration for each of the following programmes: Civil Engineering: 60 students Electrical Engineering: 60 students Mechanical Engineering: 60 students Electronics and Communication Engineering: 60 students In postgraduate studies IOT Zakura offers fulltime M.Tech programmes in Design Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering and Power System and Control, each of the programmes in all takes 18 students and takes two years. The institute also has lateral entry systems for B.Tech specialised in different courses in the institute. All the courses are intended to be full time so that student incurs excessive and exhaustive studies during his study period.

Admission at IOT Zakura is on a competitive basis and therefore does not compromise the merit of the students. Admission to most B.Tech programmes is generally offered as per the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main. Any student aspiring to be admitted into this institution must first pass this national level entrance exam. For M.Tech programmes, GATE cut off marks are considered important by the institute as measures to admit students. The institute also provides Direct Second Year Admissions for B.Tech programmes in which diploma holders and B.Sc graduates can enrol in B.Tech programmes in second year provided they meet prerequisites for the criteria.
