International Institute of Fashion Technology was started in 1990 and is situated at South Extension, New Delhi. Dedicated to fashion and design courses of study, IIFT provides a vast range of programmes in MBA, BBA, B.Sc, M.Sc and diploma levels. The institute offers 35 courses across 5 types of degrees to the students interested in fashion designing, textile and interior designing and apparel merchandising. IIFT is located at the centre of Delhi adding to the advantage by getting close to the fashion designing trade, making the course more relevant to students.
IIFT has diverse facilities that make it possible to improve the learning abilities of the students. There is a well developed library within the institute together with necessary resources that students find useful in fashion and designing. In addition, IIFT has departmental laboratory facilities which allow the students to practice their line of specialties they are interested in. The college boasts of a strong IT that prepares the students to be conversant with new technologies in fashion.
The list of courses offered by the institute includes a rich portfolio of academic disciplines for different levels of education with 35 courses. In IIFT 4 MBA programmes, 4 BBA programmes, 4 B.Sc programmes, 3 M.Sc programmes, 4 Advanced Diploma programmes and 16 Diploma programmes are there. These courses encompass almost all specific fields of specialisation of fashion and designing enterprises such as BBA Fashion Designing, Textile Designing, MBA Interior Designing, and B.Sc Apparel Merchandising. The institute also offers equal proportions of full courses so that students get both theoretical and practical knowledge in their respective areas of interest. Each course as MBA Fashion Designing & BBA Fashion Designing has the granted intake capacity of 20 students which means small group education and emphasis on quality.
The IIFT admission is aimed at choosing talents and passion for the fashion industry. Most courses operates an interview and/or an admission test as the general requirement for admission into the school. This approach makes it possible for the institute to not only determine the academic potential of the candidates in question but their creative and industrial suitability as well. IIFT also provides few seats for direct admission to the candidates for each year who found suitable to compete for this examination. Fashion and design from an MBA to BBA, to B.Sc., and M.Sc., and to diploma courses, the IIFT (International Institute of Fashion Technology), South Extension conducts such an admission process that selects the gifted and passionate candidates wanting to go into the fashion industry.
Usually, IIFT starts the admission process for the incoming batch sometime from mid-August to September. It provides courses among 35 different titles in the five-degree types and several specializations including Fashion Designing, Textile Designing, Interior Designing, and Apparel Merchandising. The admission process is based chiefly upon personal interviews and/or an admission test in the hope that candidates are borne with academic potential as well as creative aptitude.
Candidates aspiring for admission in IIFT will have to prepare for personal interviews and admission tests. It is advisable to keep checking the official IIFT website for updates regarding application deadlines and admission dates as these may differ from program to program.
Application Process
The application process of each IIFT program is as follows:
1. Visit the official IIFT website and go to the admissions section.
2. Select the program of interest and carefully read the eligibility criteria and admission requirements.
3. Accurately fill the application form with complete details of the applicant's personal and academic backgrounds.
4. Pay the amount specified as the application fee for the selected program.
5. Submit the application form duly completed, along with the requisite documents, which should include:
6. Do the preparation for the personal interview and/or admission test; basically, the interview will put to test your level of knowledge about the fashion industry, creativity, and communication skills.
7. If selected, candidates appear for a personal interview and/or admission test on the dates provided.
8. For those candidates expecting a direct admission, apply well in advance, submitting the first installment of fees through demand draft along with the application.
9. Wait for the final selection results based on interview performance, admission testing, and the cumulative academic record.
10. If selected, carry out the admission formalities by submitting the required fees and any other additionally required documents as specified by the institute.
Degree Wise Admission Process
MBA Programs: Admission to MBA Fashion Designing, Textile Designing, and Interior Designing is based on a personal interview and/or admission test. The approved intake of MBA Fashion Designing, MBA Interior Designing, and MBA Apparel Merchandising is 20 students each.
BBA Programs: Admission to BBA Fashion Designing, BBA Textile Designing, BBA Interior Designing, and BBA Apparel Merchandising is based on a personal interview and/or admission test. The approved intake of BBA Fashion Designing, BBA Interior Designing, and BBA Apparel Merchandising is 20 students each.
B.Sc Programs: Admission to B.Sc in Fashion Design, B.Sc in Textile Design, B.Sc in Interior Design, and B.Sc in Apparel Merchandising is based on an admission interview and/or admission test. The approved intake of B.Sc Fashion Designing, B.Sc Interior Designing, and B.Sc Apparel Merchandising is 20 students each.
M.Sc Programs: The MSc programmes in Apparel Merchandising, Fashion Design, and Interior Design are offered by the Institute. Admission through personal interview and/or admission test. Each of the programs has an approved intake of 20 students.
Advanced Diploma Programs: IIFT offers Advanced Diploma courses in Apparel Merchandising, Interior Designing, Business Administration, and Fashion Designing. Admission is based on personal interview and/or admission test. Advanced Diploma in Apparel Merchandising, Interior Designing, and Fashion Designing has an approved intake of 20 students each.
Diploma Programs: Various diplomas are offered by the institute in Fashion Designing, Apparel Merchandising, and Interior Designing. The admission process involves a personal interview and/or an admission test. Diploma in Fashion Designing, Apparel Merchandising, and Interior Designing have an approved intake of 20 students each.
