Islampur College of Education, established in 2014, is a co-ed institution located in Uttar Dinajpur, West Bengal. Islampur College of Education, Islampur, is a co-educational institution located in Uttar Dinajpur, West Bengal. The Islampur College of Education admission process is formulated to select deserving candidates for its courses in teacher education.

The college follows the merit-based admission procedure, as per the rules laid down by the State Government of West Bengal and the university with which it is affiliated. Admissions are strictly based on the marks secured in the entrance test and/or qualifying examination. In this manner, the most meritorious and suitable candidates are placed in the teacher education programs.

Eligibility criteria for admission vary for varying courses. For the B.Ed course, aspirants must have completed their graduation from a recognized university. For the D.El.Ed course, aspirants must have cleared 10+2 examination. Specific subject requirements and minimum percentage may be as specified by the state government or the affiliated university.

Application Process

Admission to Islampur College of Education is through the process detailed below:

1. Publicity of Admission: The process of admission starts in accordance with which the college releases information through their official website along with public notice in local newspapers.

2. Application Form: Candidates will be required to purchase and complete the application form. It may also be downloaded straight from the website of the college or be manually picked up from the college campus.

3. Document Submission: Along with the completed application form, the below documents should be submitted by the candidates along with it:

  • Qualifying examination mark sheets (Graduation for B.Ed, 10+2 for D.El.Ed)
  • Date of Birth Certificate
  • Character Certificate issued by the institution last studied
  • Migration Certificate, if applicable
  • Category Certificate (SC/ST/OBC), if applicable
  • Any other documents as instructed by the state government or college

4. Entrance Test: As may be required by state policy, the applicants can be required to take an entrance exam. Details about such tests, i.e., syllabus and test schedule, shall be communicated by the college.

5. Preparation of Merit List: Based on marks in qualifying examinations and/or entrance examination marks, a merit list is prepared as per state government and university norms.

6. Counselling and Admission: The selected candidates are called for counselling, during which time they need to verify their original documents and settle the fees for securing their admission.

7. Commencement of Classes: After the admission process is completed, the college classes commence based on the college calendar.

Degree wise Admission Process

B.Ed (Bachelor of Education):
The B.Ed programme in Islampur College of Education is a two-year full-time programme with approved strength of 50 seats. Admission to the B.Ed programme is on merit basis considering the marks obtained in the qualifying examination and/or entrance examination. The selection procedure is as per the policy of the state government and the affiliated university. The candidate must have passed graduation from a known university to be able to take the B.Ed course.

D.El.Ed (Diploma in Elementary Education):
D.El.Ed is a two-year full-time programme run by the college with approved intake of 50 seats. Similar to the B.Ed programme, D.El.Ed admission is merit-based on marks obtained in the qualifying examination (10+2) and/or entrance examination. The process of selection is as per the state government policy and UT administration. Candidates who passed the 10+2 examination are eligible for admission to D.El.Ed.
