Jagruti Shikshanshastra Mahavidyalaya was established in 1990. The college is affiliated and situated at Kolhapur, Maharashtra. It occupies an area of 4 acres of land and is devoted to teacher education, approved by the NCTE. Quality affirmation has been sought by NAAC for this college as well. Jagruti Shikshanshastra Mahavidyalaya can currently cater to 39 students with a faculty strength of 5. The college boasts of an intimate learning space for future educators. 

A collection of facilities that are oriented towards the upgrade of the experience of students and their academic journey is offered to the students. The college library serves as a hub well known for knowledge, and students always emerge enlightened by the numerous educational resources available. For practical training, the college has well-equipped laboratories. These include a computer laboratory with 10 computers and internet connection, thus keeping students updated with technology in education. The Jagruti Shikshanshastra Mahavidyalaya  takes good care of the physical aspect with the facilities available such as sports and a gym, thus giving a balance to student life. Available here also are exclusive boys' and girls' hostels for those who wish to live in-campus. A health centre with first aid facilities is available on campus for meeting the basic medical needs of the students. 

Regarding its academic offerings, Jagruti Shikshanshastra Mahavidyalaya focuses on teacher education, offering only one single full-time degree course: the B.Ed programme. The intake for the two years B.Ed programme is 50 students sanctioned from the university. The college has kept the student-teacher ratio optimal, which is a good aspect for learning. It is currently offering a single degree course; its special focus, however, allows it to provide high intensity training in the field of education. 

Jagruti Shikshanshastra Mahavidyalaya is a merit-based college, where students are admitted based on marks acquired in the qualifying examination . The college follows all admission policies as notified by the State Government of Maharashtra and the affiliated university.
