Jamia Training College, Kollam Distinct came into existence in the year 2007, and it is an Affiliated college in Chithara P.O Kadakkal, Kollam Dist, Kerala. This institution which is recognized by the National Council for Teacher Education NCTE offers specialized programmes in teacher education. The college occupies a fairly small area of 5 acres at the present time; however, it has 98 students and 12 teaching staff members. The Jamia Training College trainable faculty provides only one undergraduate program, the B.Ed program, with an approved intake of fifty students annually. This puts the college in that rather unique category of teacher training colleges in the region.

The college has developed a variety of infrastructures that facilitate the learning of its students in every field. The library is one of the vital academic facilities; it currently stock 3128 books and can probably accommodate 50 students at a go. It is enriched with the updated latest publication and journals to enhance the academic activities of students and faculty. For sake of practice, the college has several practical laboratories for the following specialties. 

These include a Science Lab, Psychology Lab and a Technology Lab all of which are capable of offering practical experiences in one or the many areas of teacher education. The college also values the role of a computer in the present day education hence offering the college five computer with printing and scanning services. For the physical development and recreation sport facility is provided to all students of the institution. Furthermore, an auditorium is used for college events, seminars and other meetings that help the college to unite all its members.

Jamia Training College is dedicated to teacher education and it has one program for which it offers a two year full-time course in B.Ed. This has made it easy for the college to focus its resource and specialized skills in training qualified educators. Currently the college has approved intake for 50 students per year meaning that throughout the two years of their program they only have 50 students, meaning a high retention rate and consistency in enrollment. The comparatively small size does therefore enable the School to pay individual attention and to foster a strong academic fellowship. It’s a college that is specialized in the training of teachers through the B.Ed program and therefore the quality of educators being churned out toappName the region are a reflection of this college.

Admission policy of Jamia Training College is in accordance with the instructions provided by the State Government, UT administration and the affiliated university. Selection procedure of the students is merit-based where mark secured in the qualifying examination and/or entrance test is taken into consideration. The college may also adopt other selection processes as a regulation may allow.
