Jayawantrao Sawant College of Education, Pune, the pioneer in education was established in the year 2008 in this state of Maharashtra. This affiliated college is in the beautiful city of Pune and has a more concentrated emphasis on training teachers. Occupying only 0.75 acres of land, the institute offers adequate learning space for the 198 enrolled students of the institute. The college currently has a staff composition of 16 members who are fully dedicated to ensure that students receive personal attention and quality education to enable them produce the best results. To that end it has B.ED, among other courses, with the institute focusing on training teachers to face existing complex world education systems.

This is an area that the college boasts of having well equipped and complete facilities that would serve the needs of the students in learning as well as productivity in other areas. it remains a veritable storehouse of information; with over 28000 books, both print and electronic with twenty seven thousand e-books, one hundred and eleven national and international print based journals and seven e-journal packages. The Library or Research Center as it is alternatively known, is, therefore, a one-stop center of vast resource variation that extends across the many disciplines of learning to students interested in any course of study. In a bid to maintain the physical health of the students the college provides sporting equipments and a workout room to enhance the students’ physical health while also nurturing their mental health. It also has well stocked laboratories which is relevant as students in education need practical sessions. An auditorium is used in conveying events and seminars in a way that creates an academic atmosphere. The college provides the comfort for students with different hostels for boys and girls having facilities such as intercoms and bathrooms with in the hostel. There is a cafeteria at campus serving nice tasty vegetables, so students can easily make their choice in line with their preferences. 

Jayawantrao Sawant College of Education provides quality teacher education in its B.Ed program that it has to offer academically. This is a two-year full course that has been specifically designed to develop competent and professional teachers. Although the college currently provides only one degree program it gives the college the benefit of a specialized approach to the training of teachers. B.Sp ED course offered at JSCE aims at enabling the students have theoretical as well as practical experience necessary for the delivery of teaching in various institutions.

The admission process under this College is a merit base considering the guidelines of state government and university. Candidates intending to pursue a course are assessed on their performance on the qualifying exam as well as written entrance tests or other standard procedures dictated by the authorities.
