Jorhat Law College, which was founded in the year 1964, is one among the premier institutions in Jorhat, Assam. This affiliated college has been performing the task of shaping legal minds since almost six decades ago with the approved permission from Bar Council of India. Spread over a very small area of 1.65 acres, this campus accommodates an effective learning environment for 549 students enrolled in the institution. With a faculty strength of 14 dedicated teachers, Jorhat Law College ensures that its students have a better student-to-teacher ratio and personal attention, thereby giving quality education. 

To make the experience at the institution altogether fulfilling in learning, there are numerous facilities available to the students. The library is, among all other facilities offered by the college, highly valued for its vast collection of both print and non-print materials. There is a library orientation for freshers and more importantly, B.A. LL.B students, so that they get acquainted with this very important academic resource. The institution also has a modern computer laboratory with the latest software and operating systems to help the students face the technological challenges in their legal profession. For hands-on practice, there is the moot court facility where students can conduct moot court to practice their pleading skills in a mock courtroom. There also exists other basic facilities within the campus for events and seminars, sports practice, refreshment facilities existing in canteen services, and health and safety care through having a first-aid facility within the health center of the campus. 

The courses of Jorhat Law College have been designed in relation to the modified requirements of future legal professionals. The college provides a three-year Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) and a five-year integrated Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws (B.A. LL.B Hons.). These would allow every student to be provided with complete legal education—theory and practice. The LL.B course has an approved intake of 120 seats, while the B.A. LL.B Hons takes on 60 seats while the total seats as a result sum up to 180. This rational and proper distribution will prevent one course from over- crowding but will rather have both courses going on with a small but attentive class of students. 

Admission processes in Jorhat Law College are developed to select committed and promising law students. Although specific information does not exist about the admission process, it is generally usual for Law colleges to consider the academic performance in qualifying exams and sometimes the scores at the time of the Entrance Test, too. It can be clearly seen that the college has made an indisputable commitment to legal education as it has its programs accredited through the BCI, thereby making sure that such programs are of the standard set by India's main regulatory body for legal education and the legal profession.
