Josco College of Nursing, Alappuzha Admission Process

Josco College of Nursing, Alappuzha, is a premier co-educational nursing college situated in Edapon, Mavelikara, Kerala. The college conducts a variety of nursing courses that are duly approved by the Indian Nursing Council (INC). Admission at Josco College of Nursing is aimed at selecting the most competent and deserving among candidates for their nursing programs.

In the case of undergraduate programs, the college considers the candidates' performance in different subjects during 10+2 level of education. Additionally, entrance examination results are deemed paramount for inclusion in the selection process. For admissions, a quota system exists whereby 50% of the seats are filled on the basis of a common entrance examination (Government Quota) and the 50% management quota, entailing 5% reservation for NRI applicants.

The same system is applicable for postgraduate admissions; however, the candidates' performance during the undergraduate examinations and entrance examination results are also taken into consideration.

Degree wise Admission Process

B.Sc Nursing; The B.Sc Nursing has an approved intake of 60 seats at Josco College of Nursing. The procedure for admissions is channelized through two main routes:

  1. 50% of seats are filled through the common entrance examination (Government Quota).
  2. 50% of seats are filled by the management, 5% being reserved for NRI candidates.

Post Basic B.Sc Nursing: With 40 seats approved, the selection is based on:

  1. Marks in the qualifying examination (GNM - General Nursing and Midwifery).
  2. Rank in the entrance examination held by concerned authority.
  3. Prospective arrangements for SC/ST and OBC candidates will be as provided in the Government of Kerala prospectus for professional courses.

M.Sc Nursing Programs: Several different specializations of M.Sc Nursing are available at the college, with a specific number of seats allocated to each one as given below:

  1. M.Sc Medical Surgical Nursing (2 seats)
  2. M.Sc Community Health Nursing (4 seats)
  3. M.Sc Psychiatric Nursing (4 seats)
  4. M.Sc Paediatric Nursing (4 seats)
  5. M.Sc Obstetrics and gynaecological Nursing (4 seats)

For all M.Sc programs, admission is structured as follows:

  1. Admission for 50% of seats is through the common entrance examination (Government Quota).
  2. Admission for the remaining 50% of the seats is sponsored by the Management, with 5% of seats reserved for NRI candidates.

Documents required:

  • 10th and 12th standard mark sheets and certificates
  • Entrance examination score card
  • Transfer certificate from the last attended institution
  • Migration certificate (if applicable)
  • Caste certificate (for reserved category candidates)
  • NRI documents (for NRI quota applicants)
  • Any other certificates or documents specified by the college
