JSS college for Women, Kollegala was established in the year 1983 having an objective of enlightening the rural women through education. :Situated in Kollegala, Karnataka the above is a private college affiliated to University of Mysore and accredited by NAAC with B+ grade. Located on 3.96 acres of land, the college provides its 442 student enrollment 6 courses following 4 different degrees. The college can boast of having 20 teachers in its staff, thus the percentage of teachers to students is quite helpful.

The college has various state of art facilities to complement the learning of the students as listed below. A large, modern library with more than 14, 380 books and over 30 CURRENT SUBSCRIPTIONS exists the academic year, inaugurated in 1983. There are facilities for sports both indoors and outdoors confirming the need for students’ fitness and strong teams. An ultramodern auditorium is used in occasion and seminars, while a cafeteria in school complex provides healthy foods. The college also has a girls’ hostel catering out-station students with 24 hours water and electric supply, in addition to security. As a result of the technological demands, the college has provided quality IT services such as; flicker ware, computer laboratories, and internet services.

JSS College for Women provides students with a good choice of academic disciplines that could be of interest and that will help the girl to achieve the desired career. There are six full time courses offered at the college, out of which the courses are under graduate as well as post graduate course. At the undergraduate level the University offers Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com), Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) and many more programs in Bachelor of Arts (BA) with combinations of History, Economics, Political Science, Kannada, Geography and so on. At the post graduate level, the college provide a course in the form of M.Com for students who wish to pursue further education. The approved intake for these courses is 442 and the specific intake distributions as follows the BA in History, Economics and Political Science 180.
