JSS College of Education Bijapur was established in the year 1980 at Bijapur Karnataka one of the pioneer institution in the field of teacher education. Situated in Vijayapur the college is offering specific educational courses such as B.Ed and M.Ed. In this regard, it is affiliated to a larger education institution, which acts to guarantee that it meets proper academic standards. The institution is fully accredited by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) thus a confirmation of quality training, a necessity for an institution offering Teacher Training. Situated in a 6.5 acre, JSS College of Education is issued to enough ground to promote effective learning and professional training.

The LMC stores more than 16,485 books in Kannada and English that cater to the ranks of education for linguistic and resourceful to aspiring teachers. JSS College of Education currently offers two full-time courses: These degrees include a Bachlors in Education (B.Ed) and a Masters of Education (M.Ed). The intake capacity in the B.Ed programme has been approved at 100 students, whereas in M.Ed programme only 50 students are allowed. Both courses take two years to complete where students are trained in both theories of education and practices. Total strength of students in all the courses is 201 and the number of intakes is also the same that is 100+100 it clearly depicts that all the available seats are been occupied. The college has a faculty strength of 11 members allowing each student a one on one interaction with the teacher.

The admission policy at JSS College of Education follows the policy line of merit system as stipulated by the state as well as the university and the UT. Even for the B.Ed programme candidates are selected according to the marks scored in the qualifying examination or entrance examination. Likewise, the, selection of the candidates to the M.Ed programme depends on their performance in the qualifying examinations, entrance test or any other method deemed fit. The college follows the formal admission process so that there is no nepotism, favoritism and only deserving students can get themselves selected.
