Kalinga Institute of Nursing Sciences (KINS) started its journey in the year of 2005, is one of the constituent college of KIIT University, Bhubaneswar Odisha. As a coeducation institute sprawled on 5 acres of land, aims at producing trained nurses for the country. The Indian Nursing Council (INC) approves this faculty, which means that the qualifying standards are particularly high. KINS takes only 150 students in a year and has a teaching staff of 24 faculty members, which makes the college highly individualistic.
Kalinga Institute of Nursing Sciences also has various facilities that make academic and personal life of students streamlined in the current times. The hostels for boys and girls are available with round the clock wireless internet access, separate reading rooms, indoor and outdoor games and much more. A cafeteria as well as an open-air eating place is also provided for the inmates in the hostels and they prepare both Veg. & Non-Veg Indian & Continental Food. For health care requirements, students are endowed with a 1300 bedded super speciality parent hospital P.B.M.H in K.I.M.S which has teaching amenities and serve as a clinic for free consultation. The institute library is now computerised with WiFi internet that provides restricted access to database such as CINAHL and MEDLINE. They also use the central library for references and research work of the students.
Some of the programmes it delivers a wide grouping of nursing programmes to meet different educational levels. Offering 8 full time programmes, KINS offer undergraduate, postgraduate and diploma courses. For all the courses, the total approved intake is 175 seats. The largest course offering is the B.Sc Nursing with an intake capacity of 100 students, the other principal course is the GNM diploma course for 50 students. KINS also offers post graduate M.Sc courses in obstetrics and gynecological nursing with 4-5 seats, community health nursing, medical surgical nursing, pediatric nursing, and psychiatric/mental health nursing.

The admission process in KINS is very selective depending on the merit especially for the B.Sc Nursing course admission is offered based on the candidate’s performance in an entrance examination set by the university or any other recognised examining authority.
