Kamakhyanagar College in Dhenkanal was established in 1974 and is affiliated with the Utkal University  in Kamakhyanagar, Odisha. It is an 18.38 acre institution offering fifteen diverse courses consolidated under six degree programnes. There are 682 students in total and 34 faculty members which assure a proper student/teacher ratio. Education in Kamakhyanagar College is accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). This college offers a wide range of course offerings in different disciplines depending on Arts, Science and commerce disciplines: the college provides both the general and the honours degree programmes.

The college has several facilities that should improve the learning mechanisms of the learners in their college. An athletic centre could be dedicated to acquisitions of physical exercise equipment and on the other hand, we have the library as an essential tool in learning. Gymnasium and play fields development advocate for rational integration of work and play. It plays the role of providing students with modern IT equipments which helps the college to meet the needs of students in dispensing their college education. Skill stations are offered at several departmental laboratories which are most helpful for science oriented students. The courses offered at Kamakhyanagar College are a total of 15 courses, and all of them are full time courses only. The course offerings span across three main streams, Arts, Science, and Commerce. The college offers the following undergraduate degrees in the Arts stream. There are BA programmes honouring subjects Anthropology, Economics, English, History, Odia, and Political Science. The Science stream have B.Sc programmes with honours in Botany, Zoology, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics. For commerce enthusiasts, the college provides the undergraduate B.Com programme in the honours subject of Accounting. These specialised honours programmes allow the students to draw broader fields of study to gain depth in the area of specialisation. The total number of students secures in the college accounts to 682, which proves that the college has a good number of intakes for each of the programmes offered.

It is the policy of Kamakhyanagar College to admit students on merit basis without discriminating students on the basis of caste creed, colour and gender. It is quite standard for affiliated colleges to take performance in the qualifying examination (10+2 or equivalent) into account. The admission process in the college may be similar to the one started by the college’s affiliating university.
