Karaikal Polytechnic College was set up in the year 1988 and is second oldest polytechnic college in the union territory of Puducherry, situated at Varichikudy, Kottucherry, Puducherry. This affiliated college recognises by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), undertake several diploma courses in numerous specialisation of engineering. Located on a large area of land of about 13.6155 acres, the college offers total student intake of 673 and faculty 51 in number. In order to fulfill its vision to impart technical education, Karaikal Polytechnic College offers six regular diploma courses, which are of three years’ duration that enables the students to specialise in various fields of engineering.

Karaikal Polytechnic College is well endowed with varieties of modern day facilities in making of the college a better place for learning. Every student must have a working knowledge of the library as a storehouse of useful information and learning materials. For those with an interest in sport and recreation the college also has sports equipment, including a gym, to help students maintain fitness alongside work. It has a total of six diploma courses which are all day and regular programmes offered at the Karaikal Polytechnic College. These courses include Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Civil Engineering and Electronics and Communication Engineering. With a total approved intake of 380 seats divided in all these programmes, the college is well capable to produce a good number of budding engineers every year.
