Karnatak Arts Science and Commerce College, Bidar: Admission, Courses, Fees, Placements

Karnatak Arts Science and Commerce College Bidar (KASCC) is a reputed college established in the year 1970 only. Situated in Bidar, Karnataka, this college is co-educational and recognized by the Gulbarga University affiliated to NAAC with ‘A’ grade. KASCC provide various programmes in arts science as well as commerce streams. The college occupies a total area of 5.1 acres and has a total student population of 2069 and a teaching staff of 111. Across the 9 degrees, taught at the undergraduate, postgraduate and Doctorate levels, KASCC offers 17 courses. The institute specific specialisations are offered in Kannada, Computer Science, Biotechnology and Mathematics streams.

The following are some of the facilities provided by Karnatak Arts Science and Commerce College to improve the students comfort: The college library which is under construction has a carpet area of 6000 sq. ft. The college library has a capacity of 63000 volumes of books and 30 journals subscription. The novel service is the digital library equipped with 10 systems connected to the internet and a browsing centre. Playing equipment available include Olympic table tennis, carom, chess, volley ball, foot ball, kabaddi, cricket etc. The college also offers accommodation facilities for both boys and girls; the accommodation for the boys is in the shape of hostel with 32 beds while that of the girls’ hostel is 60 beds. Other facilities include modern gymnasium, a food court with hygienic food, an expansive 500-seater assembly hall, and 8 science departments with a total of eighteen laboratories.

KASCC provides a full package of academic programmes for its students. Full time, part time and doctoral programmes offered by the college are 17 courses in total. Undergraduate programmes include Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Commerce, Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Computer Application. The postgraduate programmes range from MA, M.Com and M.Sc and the doctoral programmes include M.Phil and Ph. D. The total student enrolment at KASCC is 1,921, and every year a good number of students complete their course. Sex wise distribution in the college is fairly equal with 51% male and 49% female under graduate students and 25 % male and 75% female post graduate students.

All of the above KASCC Universities under the Uganda Ministry of Education and sports offer admission to their various under graduate /post graduate and doctoral programmes to qualifying students on merit; with the Doctoral students being subjected to an interview. The college accepts entrance scores and other forms of tests for entrance despite the fact not many details have been highlighted. Some of the scholarships that KASCC provides for it students include: SC/ST Scholarship, OBC Scholarship, Post Matric Scholarship for Minorities, Merit Scholarship for Minorities, etc. They range from Rs. 900 for type 3 and first year, to Rs. 40,000 for type 1 and final year. The graduates from KASCC have produced positive results in their respective fields of disciplines hence enhancing the image of the college.
