Karnataka Institute of Leather and Fashion Technology (KILFFT) was founded in 1983 and sits in Bangalore, Karnataka. This affiliated college which is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education-AICTE aims at shaping talent in leather and fashion. Located in a small plot of land of 10 acres of land in Ullal Upanagar, KILFFT provides a concentration ambiance to the future professionals. The institute has an intake capacity of eighty students in total and a faculty composed of one member to attend each student. KILFFT has two diploma courses in leather technology and fashion technology/footwear making.
KILFFT has a number of infrastructures succeeding to maintain the learning process of the students. The institute boasts of host of well-equipped laboratories most of which include leather processing lab, foot wear manufacturing workshop, leather garments and goods fabrication workshop. These practical spaces are supported by specialised Chemical Testing, Physical Testing, Chemistry as well as Physics laboratories. The college boasts of functional library with books and periodicals on Leather Technology, Footwear Technology and Fashion Technology among others. In an additional option for students’ comfort, KILFFT has separate hostel accommodations for both the male and female students. The campus also provides a cantoon, a playground, gym and an auditorium for co-curricular activities. First aid and health centre caters the medical needs of students; training and placement facility fulfills their career requirements.
In terms of academic programmes, KILFFT offers two full time diploma programmes. The most popular course is the three years Diploma in Leather and Fashion Technology which has an intake capacity of 45 students as approved. Further, an institute provides a one-year Diploma in Goods and Garments and Footwear Making Skill. These programmes are meant to deliver knowledge and skills on current important areas in leather and fashion to the students. This means that the institute is particular for those students who are interested in these niche areas.
