KDA Nursing College was established in the year 2008. The campus of this affiliated institute is based in Mumbai, Maharashtra. The Indian Nursing Council has given approval to the institute and imparts its specialised nursing education on its compact 1.5 acre campus. With a total enrolment of students amounting to 132 and faculty to 26, KDA Nursing College offers curricula for two nursing courses: the BSc in Nursing and Post Basic BSc Nursing, which help in the training of professional healthcare professionals. This college is located in Andheri West, which is one of the more booming regions in Mumbai. What makes this a locational advantage is the fact that Kokilaben Hospital is very close by. This means that there is a practical exposure to the students. KDA Nursing College has many facilities that help to make learning easier for students.
The KDA Nursing College has a well-stocked library that provides needed resources for pursuit of nursing education. The infrastructure in IT is really commendable: a 1000 sq. ft. fully air-conditioned computer laboratory with 20 computers, by which students practice application of technology in nursing. The college provides departmental laboratories where on-hands training of simulating healthcare settings is offered. Students' welfare is also catered for with separate hostel facilities both for boys and girls, ensured of comfort accommodation. First-aid facilities offered in a health centre on campus are available for any immediate medical needs. Other facilities include a fully air-conditioned canteen opened from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. from Monday to Sunday, with salutary and healthy food at concessional rates. Under the KDA Colleges, Nursing College has a focused curriculum with two courses of full-time nursing.
The B.Sc. Nursing programme had 50 intakes. Students who have entered in the Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing have gone in two years back with an intake of 30 students per year, which amounts to 80 students. Gone are the days of paper-based learning methods, whereby the syllabus followed traditional ways of learning; today students interact with the latest technology. Authenticity is given to the clinical experience or the scenario at every step of the learning process. This way, the reflections and learning from clinical-based experiences on the part of the students are maximised.
