Khalsa College of Law, Amritsar that was setup in 2012 is an affiliated college in Punjab, India. Among the many legal institutes that have set up shop in Amritsar is this one, located at Ram Tirath Road, next to Labh Nagar, and running for more than a decade now. The college is situated at a 5-acre campus and is self financed and is approved by the Bar Council of India (BCI). The college of law has a total intake of 846 students and 24 faculty members which creates a concentrated education experience. The institute offers three full-time law courses which include LLB, BA LLB Integrated and B.Com LLB Integrated as per the students’ various interests in law.
Khalsa College of Law provides a quality learning environment for its learners. The college also has a well ventilated, well furnished Moot Court Room with audio visual facility which enables the students to have practical feel of the court proceedings and to help students inculcate the paramount virtue of Advocacy. The library is a storehouse of legal informations containing a large number of books, law journals, law reports and references. It has now fully automated systems with barcodes so that users can get resources easily. A good demonstration of this is the well-equipped internet Lab with free internet access, with Legal Soft wares such as SCC Online, digital copy of AIR and CrLJ accessible in the college. For extracurricular learners involvement, the college boasts of having a sports ground and a cafeteria. Students’ fellowships, entertainment programmes including seminars and auctions take place at the college auditorium. Most importantly, the institution offers hostellers for both boys and girls so as to engage out station students comfortably. Also on the campus there is a Health Centre with the first aid facilities student’s health is the highest priority here.
There are three courses currently offered in the college and all are on full time mode. They are the three years LL.B course, the five years B.A LL.B Integrated programme and the five years B.Com LL.B Integrated programme. The total intake approved in these courses is 300 while the BA LLB Integrated programme being the most popular has a capacity of 180 only. The faculty offers 60 seats for both the five-year LLB and B.Com LLB Integrated degree. These diverse programmes enable the students make a choice of a course that best suits them in terms of the legal profession.
This paper aims at discussing the manner in which Khalsa College of Law, Amritsar admits learners to its law programmes . Although, certain aspects regarding the admission process have not been given, passing marks in the qualifying examination and in the law entrance test are the normal criteria acquainted with in case of admission to the law colleges.

The bar council of India mentions the percentage criteria as 45% for the general category students and 40% for the SC/ST students in the Section 7. The criteria is same for a 5 year Bcom LLB course and for a 3 year LLB course. Remember, this does not ensure you an admission in the institute, this only fulfills the criteria for applying. Marks less than the minimum marks specified will not be eligible to apply for the course in any of the recognized Universities.
