Khyati School of Design (KSD), Ahmedabad offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs in design. KSD caters to a diverse range of design interests at both B.Des and M.Des levels with several specializations in the domain. Admissions for KSD usually fall in the general admission cycle with an academic year that usually starts in August-September.  For undergraduate programs (B.Des), KSD adopts two ways for the admissions process. The first one is through the national-level entrance test known as UCEED or the Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design. Students who have appeared for UCEED will then be eligible for consideration through scores subject to the KSD cut-off. 

For postgraduate programs (M.Des), the admissions process consists of a creative situation test, personal interview, and portfolio evaluation conducted by the institute. This evaluative process ensures that candidates are well suited and equipped with what it takes to achieve an advanced educational program in design. Typically, eligibility requirements include completion of 10+2 or its equivalent from a recognized board for B.Des programs. In general, M.Des candidates should have a bachelor's degree in a relevant part of study, although requirements might differ with specialization.

Application Process

Khyati School of Design follows a slightly different application process for undergraduate and postgraduate programs.

For B.Des programs:

1. Candidates can either follow the UCEED pathway or apply directly to KSD.

2. Applying via UCEED pathway:

• Take the UCEED examination.
• Check your UCEED score against the KSD cut-off criteria.
• Eligible candidates can apply to KSD using their UCEED score.

3. For direct application to KSD:

• Visit the official KSD website and fill the online application form.
• Pay the required application fee.
•  Submit the completed application with necessary documents.

4. Shortlisted candidates will be asked to attend the creative situation test, personal interview, and portfolio presentation process.

For Student Admission into M.Des Programs:

1. Visit the official KSD website and fill out the online application form for your desired M.Des specialization.
2. Pay the application fee as indicated on the website.
3. Submit the completed application form with all necessary documents.
4. Shortlisted candidates will be called for the creative situation test, personal interview, and portfolio assessment.

Necessary documentation usually includes:

• A completed application form
• Passport-size photographs
• Academic transcripts and certificates (10th, 12th, and undergraduate degree for M.Des applicants)
• Portfolio of creative work (as guided by KSD)
• UCEED score card (for B.Des applicants using the UCEED pathway)
• Any other documents specified by the institute

Selection procedures will be based upon the candidates' performance in the creative situation test, personal interview, and portfolio review. For the B.Des UCEED pathway candidates, the UCEED score will also apply. The institute seeks candidates who show ingenuity, an analytical approach, and a strong passion for design.

Admission Process by Degree

B.Des: KSD offers six B.Des specializations: Fashion and Costume Design, Lifestyle Accessory Design, Textile Design, Visual Communication, Interior and Furniture Design, and Industrial Product Design. All B.Des courses are admitted based on scores from the UCEED or based on KSD's own creative situation test, personal interview, and portfolio evaluation. The courses span four years and offer complete education in the chosen field of design.

M.Des: Three M.Des specializations will be provided in the institute: Interior and Spatial Design, User Experience Design, and Fashion and Styling. Admission to these two-year postgraduate programs will be based on the creative situation test, personal interview, and portfolio evaluation by KSD. Such programs are tailored to those candidates desirous to sharpen their design skills in a more advanced and specialized manner.
