The KMCT Ayurveda Medical College located at Mukkam, Kozhikode is an affiliated college came into existence in the year 2006. This is a co-educational college, recognized by the CCIM and has a BAMS program. The college is located in a very large piece of land; it occupies 17.6 acres of land and has the capacity to admit 220 students at a time and has 30 faculty members. It has a fairly diverse body of students towards the gender split with 92% of the students being female and 8% male. This makes KMCT Ayurveda Medical College dedicated to delivering quality education for the students in the field of Ayurveda so as to enable them practice in the field and earn a livelihood.
It stands a college that has fully equipped facilities to match the needs of students in the classrooms and their overall well-being. There are separate hostels provided for the boys and girls to enhance the accommodation experience for the people living in it. Medical facilities for students’ needs are fairly well provided for in the Health Centre equipped with a First Aid section. Newspapers, magazines and journals, and the college library acommodates a collection of 10775 books on Ayurveda in its 2000 sq ft area. For recreation and games and to maintain physical standard students have facilities for football, cricket, volley ball, table tennis, badminton etc. The college also has some additional facilities like, smart class room with facility of overhead projectors, microphones etc., which helps in teaching learning programme.
The college has only one course and it is a full time graduate course named Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) of six years duration. This course is offered at the college and the institution is allowed to admit 60 students for this course. According to the statistical data collected up to the date, the total student enrolment in the institute is 220 and all are undergraduate.
The curriculum followed at the KMCT Ayurveda Medical College is regulated with the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET). NEET score is mandatory for students that want to be offered admission into the BAMS program. The college accepts students who have cleared the NEET which is considered the standard entry test for medical colleges throughout the country.
