KITS Kottayam: Admission, Courses, Fees, Placements

Kottayam Institute of Technology and Science popularly known as KITS started in 2011 is a private college in Pallickathodu, Kerala. Affiliated with APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University, KITS offers nine courses across two degrees: B.Tech and M.Tech. The institute is situated in a sprawling 16 acres of land which has a total intake capacity of 500 students and has a63|associated faculty force of 104 members. KITS is approved from All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and offers numerous streams of the engineering stream.

Kottayam Institute of Technology and Science has basic and state of the art structures that facilitate learning and student living. KITS provides different hostels for boys and girls; all these hostels are provided with facilities such as television room and library. Hi tech facilities at the campus include computerised library, modern laboratories, and language lab to develop technical and communication ability of the students. Concerning health and fitness the glamorous amenities include a medical centre with a round the clock nursing, gymnasium and several sports facilities. Computer systems are updated annually to ensure students use the most relevant software and the internet-based services. Some of these facilities include; provision of food through a cafeteria which includes a range of menu, a hall for functions, internet connection for computing and car Hiring for scholars in “day scholar” option.

KITS provides a total of nine courses in which there are Seven B.Tech Courses and Two M.Tech Courses. The B.Tech programmes consists of 4 years and offers majors in Mechanical Engineering, Automobile Engineering, Computer Science Engineering, Civil Engineering, Biomedical and Robotics Engineering Electronics and Communication Engineering and Electrical and Electronics Engineering. Each of these programmes takes 60 students at a time. The M.Tech courses, of two years’ duration, are currently offered in areas of Applied Electronics and Power Electronics and Power Systems. The overall approved intake of KITS for all courses is up to 500 students per year.

Admission to KITS Kottayam is therefore usually through entrance tests although other parameters such as management quotas and cutoffs may also be used as a measure of determining admission. For the B.Tech programmes, the entrance test accepted is the Kerala Engineering Architecture & Medical Examination (KEAM). For M.Tech programmes the scores of Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) are taken into account. The institute uses the admission timelines of these examinations and also the higher education department of the state. Though it is not clear in regard to specific scholarships KITS offers information on quality education and student success.
