KRP College of Arts and Science, Kakkivadanpatti, is one of the youngest institutes, which was established in the year 2019 but plays a good role in moulding the youth lives. Established in the colourful town of Sivakasi, Tamil Nadu, this college houses a plethora of undergrad courses in arts, science, and commerce streams. The college is also relatively small in size; it occupies only 5.3 acres of area and has 77 students registered on the campus. The college has a robust staff complement with an anticipated 16 members in its faculty, making student treatment more personal. Despite being relatively young, KRP College is gradually establishing a position as a higher education institution that currently teaches 8 courses within 4 programmes.
The college boasts of its well-equipped infrastructure, along with fourteen modern learning facilities for the students. Located in the centre of its technological system, the school has a computer laboratory with essential facilities. This is not just a room full of computers. This is where theory comes to be put into practice—a learning lab if you may. All students are using modern software and fast internet to practice ideas discussed in the class in an actual working environment. The LAN connectivity in the lab allows students to be abreast of knowledge in their groups and encourages teamwork on projects among them. Apart from their use in the facilitation of the academic needs of the institutions, these computing facilities are instrumental in the effective administration of the college and the communication between the college and its community.
KRP College of Arts and Science is not only an academic institution; it is also. The institution recognises the need for integral development of students and offers a number of amenities to help the student feel comfortable. A collection of close to two and a half thousand books in various specialisations are available at the college library. To and from Sivakasi and other nearby areas, the college provides transport facilities to the students travelling to and from college.
A play ground and exercising ground are provided for those students who wish to keep fit and other related sporting infrastructures are also included for that purpose. A cafeteria on the compound has food services to meet the requirements of students and members of staff, and accommodation for guests has separate sets of rooms as provided in the guest house for the members of staff’s families and visiting faculty, among others. The college also provides accredited subject-specific laboratories, facilitating real-life experience by the students in their areas of speciality. Altogether, these facilities make an environment conducive to the development of both academic and personal qualities in a student.
The KRP College of Arts and Science currently has a total of 8 programmes for the undergraduate degree and all of these programmes have full-time study. The course sections are classified according to the faculties of arts, science, and commerce to meet the different specialisation areas. Among these, existing general programmes include BA, B.Sc. in Mathematics, Physics, and Computer Science, BBA, and B.Com. with Computer Applications.
When completed, each of these degree programmes will take the students three years to complete and they are expected to prepare them well for the future job markets or for the next level of studies. Despite the college still being a developing institution, the college has developed a structured academic setting with a total student enrolment of seventy-seven students at the current time, a number that the college maintains to ensure delivery of quality education due to the fact that comes with the ability to allow class sizes to be smaller.
The admissions process at KRP College of Arts and Science for each and every student seems to be very simple and easy. From the given photograph, it can also be deduced that though admission to specific courses is nowhere stated, the college certainly must adhere to the general admission criteria, which a majority of arts and science colleges in Tamil Nadu follow, which is merit-based admission.
Prospective students are advised to keep an eye on the college's official website for information on when admissions are open and how to go about it. The college may consider marks obtained in the qualifying examination (that is, the commonly called 12th standard examination) for admission to various undergrad programmes. KRP College is among the developing colleges, and a major aspect that underpins the consideration of great talents in students helps the college to get the right mix of students to foster the development of a vibrant college community.
