Lalit Chandra Bharali College was established in the year 1971 at Guwahati, Assam, and since then, one of the strongholds has emerged in the scenario of higher education. This co-educational institution is affiliated to Gauhati University and accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council. It functions on a compact campus spread over 1.3 acres and conducts extensive courses—20 courses in 6 degrees with an enrollment of 961. The sex ratio has been maintained at par, with males numbering 52% and females 48%, the faculty strength has also touched 45 devoted souls. The college boasts of well equipped facilities that have been enhanced to create better learning atmosphere.

It acts as a knowledge hub with over 20,000 text and reference books, 30 periodicals, and 13 newspapers. SOUL software has been there for efficient management, and open access has been given to the students. A new hostel with an intake capacity of 40 inmates is there for female students only. Different laboratories are available, fully equipped with hands-on activities for the Departments of Electronics, Physics, and Education. A health club is provided by the Health Club under the supervision of a doctor in order to cater the needs of students and staff related to drugs. The college canteen is the social hub, and a canteen provides basic facilities of photocopying and stationery. 

Although Lalit Chandra Bharali College provides multiple courses, the most popular courses are for undergraduate levels. Total numbers of full-time courses the institution provides are 19. Out of them, 17 are undergraduate, and rest 2 are post graduate. One of the popular courses is BA, B.Sc, BCA, B.Sc in Information Technology. PGDCA is also offered in special skills in computer applications.
