Laxmi Devi Mahavidyalaya, was established in 2008 is an affiliated college of Madaripur. Situated in over 4.2 acres of land, this institution is recognised by National Council for Teacher Education(NCTE). Four distinct degrees are provided by the college for a total enrolment of 450 students. Laxmi Devi Mahavidyalaya currently has a faculty strength of 23 members which includes only the committed and dedicated educators for their students For candidates, the college has a good number of students for each teacher to insure quality education.

Among the facilities available for use are; These are the facilities available in the college with an aim of improving the learning process as well as the development of the students. A centre piece of these amenities is the school library, which Holds 4,876 books, 16 educational journals and 35 encyclopedia. The library of the university also contains reading room which has the capacity of 300 students for reading purposes. As applied facilities, the college provides departmental laboratories alongside with developed IT support. Other amenities that students may also enjoy include; sports fields, a canteen, and a hall for occasions, and seminars. It also has a Wi-fi enabled campus whereby the students can comfortably acess online and internet resources. To enhance the health standards of those students and staff, who are conscious about fitness; the university has a gym in the campus. For the same reason, the college also manages limited guest rooms for the visiting teaching staff and waiting areas for students’ families. 

Laxmi Devi Mahavidyalaya has four full time courses in total which aim to meet different need and wants of students. These programmes are BA, B.Sc, B.ED, and Diploma in Elementary Education (D. El. ED). The B.Ed programme which is a two years course has been approved for an intake capacity of one hundred students The D.El.Ed programme which is also a two years course was approved for a capacity of fifty students.

This paper seeks to explain the various processes as applied and followed in the admission of students especially to its education programmes. When it comes to admission to the B.Ed and D.El.Ed programmes the college follows the merit system. As far as merit is concerned, candidates are considered strictly on their performance in the eligibility criteria that comes into perspective while having 10+2+3 (Senior Secondary and Undergraduate) academic background records.
