Lohia Charan Singh College, Darbhanga came into existence in the year 1979. It was one of the pioneering educational institutes in Bihar, India. The college is situated near Ganj Chauk on the Donar-Sonaki Road and currently offers undergraduate-level courses in various streams. The huge campus with 5 acres has a huge student body of 4602 enrolments, further supported by 69 dedicated faculty members in total. 

It has a decent number of facilities aimed at enhancing the learning and developing the overall personality of students. At the hub of all academic resources, there is a well-equipped library that allows the students to become aware of rich knowledge on different fields of study. Complementing practical learning, the institution has labs based on different departments which form part of an integral practical education in science courses. The campus is also equipped with an auditorium, which hosts educational seminars, cultural programs as well as various college functions. Keeping the physical fitness in mind, the institute provides sports facilities to all its students to keep them fit and healthy. The college also provided good IT infrastructure so that the students are at par with today's development in technology.

Lohia Charan Singh College offers three full-time undergraduate courses of a duration of three years each. Being an affiliated college, it offers three major streams for degree programs, viz., Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, and Bachelor of Commerce, to meet varied academic interests and career aspirations. The Bachelor of Arts provides general orientation towards Humanities and Social Sciences. The Bachelor of Science course shall cater to students who want to pursue scientific disciplines. Students who take an interest in pursuing Commerce/Business studies are offered the degree of Bachelor of Commerce.
