Bachelor of Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery (BHMS) is a 5.5-year academic program containing a 4 and 1/2-year academic session and a one-year internship program degree offered by the Guru Ravidas Ayurved University, Hoshiarpur, and approved by the National Commission for Homoeopathy (NCH).

Eligibility Criteria

1. The higher secondary examination or the Indian School Certificate Examination which is equivalent to 10+2 Higher Secondary Examination after twelve years’ study, the last two years of study comprising of Physics, Chemistry, Biology with Mathematics or any other elective subjects with English at a level not less than core course of English as prescribed by the National Council of Educational Research and Training after the introduction of the 10+2+3 years educational structure as recommended by the National Committee on Education. 

  • The intermediate examination in science of an Indian University or Board or other recognized examining body with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, which shall include a practical test in these subjects and also English as a compulsory subject. 
  • The pre-professional or pre-medical examination with Physics, Chemistry and Biology, after passing either the higher secondary school examination, or the pre-university or an equivalent Examination, which shall include a practical test in Physics, Chemistry and Biology and also English as a compulsory subject. 
  • The first year of the three-year’ degree course of a recognized University, with Physics, Chemistry and Biology including a practical test in these subjects provided the examination is a University Examination, and candidate has passed 10+2 with English at a level not less than a core course.
  • Any other examination which, in scope and standard, is found to be equivalent to the intermediate science examination of an Indian University or Board, taking Physics, Chemistry and Biology including practical test in each of these subjects and English as a compulsory subject. 

2. The candidate must have passed in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English individually and must have obtained a minimum of (50%) Fifty percent marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry and Biology at the qualifying examination mentioned above for unreserved candidates and (40%) Forty percent marks in respect of the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes 

3. Candidate with benchmark disabilities as specified under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 (49 of 2016), the minimum qualifying marks in qualifying examination in Physics, Chemistry and Biology shall be (45%) Forty-five percent for general category and (40%) forty percent for the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes. 

4. No candidate shall be admitted to B.H.M.S. Degree Course unless he has attained the age of seventeen years on or before the 31st December of the year of this admission in the first year of the course and not older than the age of twenty-five years on or before the 31st December of the year of admission in the first year of the course: Provided that the upper age limit may be relaxed by five years to the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes and physically handicapped candidates. 

5. No candidate shall be admitted to the B.H.M.S Degree Course if he is blind (including color blindness), deaf, dumb, or deaf and dumb. 

Admission Details

1. There shall be a uniform entrance examination to all medical institutions at the under-graduate level, namely, the ‘National Eligibility Entrance Test’ (NEET) for admission to under-graduate courses in each academic year and shall be conducted by an authority designated by the Central Government.

2. To be eligible for admission to an undergraduate course for an academic year, it shall be necessary for a candidate to obtain a minimum of marks at the 50th percentile in the National Eligibility Entrance Test for an undergraduate course held for the said academic year, provided that in respect of-
