Lumding College was founded in the year 1959 and is a co-educational institution situated in the area of Lumding, Assam. This affiliated college is spread over 4.5 acres of land and has accreditation from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council. There are 2,299 students enroled and a faculty strength of 27, with 19 courses running across 6 degree programs. The student body consists of 637 male and 780 female students, reflecting a balanced sex ratio.

The college offers a variety of facilities for enriching the learning environment. One such facility is a well-stocked library with over 25,000 books, 20 national and international journals, and newspapers. Computerisation of the Library has been done under the 'Scientifically Arranged Cataloguing System'. Internet facilities with a printer and scanner are provided for the students. The sports-minded have a playground and facilities for several indoor and outdoor games such as cricket, football, volleyball, basketball, badminton, table tennis, carrom, and chess. 

The undergraduate courses provided at Lumding College include general and major courses. In the list of full-time courses, 19 are offered in Arts, Science, and Commerce streams. Some popular degrees, including BA, B.Sc, and B.Com, have various major options such as Economics, Political Science, Assamese, Chemistry, Mathematics, Zoology, Physics, Bengali, Botany, English, History, Hindi, and Education.
