The Luxmi Bai Institute of Dental Sciences and Hospital Patiala, was established in the year 2001 and is a leading dental college in Punjab, India. This affiliated college which is recognized by the Dental Council of India extends its multiple dental and medical laboratory courses. The student enrolment in the institute is 494 and the number of the faculties is 50 which is apt for a dental institute. The students are as follows: There are 97% undergraduate students and 3% postgraduate students. The BDS is the flag ship programme and the of student intake approved is one hundred. Other courses include Master of Dental Surgery in Prosthodontics and Crown Bridge, Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Technology and diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology, Dental Mechanic and Dental hygienist.

Like other undergraduate programme in the country, the BDS programme admits students through the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET).
